But everything changes when Anna is drowned in a terrible accident. Evelyn is a fisherman’s daughter who happens to be best friends with the daughter of a lord Anna and also the crown prince Niklas. The first thing I loved about this book was that it is set in Norway, there’s not a lot of Norwegian fantasy/folklore books out there and I always love reading about new places. I read To Kill a Kingdom earlier this year and really enjoyed it, so when I saw this was a retelling of Ursula’s story I couldn’t resist. It’s a funny thing that a friend and I were discussing at the beginning of the year that there weren’t very many mermaid themed fantasy novels out there, since then there seems to have been an influx. Thank you to Netgalley, Harper Collins and Sarah Henning for my ARC of The Sea Witch in exchange for an honest review.
